Ladies' Strand

The picture on the floor, underneath this make-shift self, a place for painting

is of the central beach at Ballybunion, known as the Ladies' Strand (distinguishing it from the Men's Strand - a direct heritage from the days when men and women had to be separated on the beach) and the Nun's Strand (below the cliff where the convent was located)

It stretches from the North Ciffs

where only two tiny bathers are testing the water

and by a miracle of artistic licence and the bending of perspective, incorporates a view of Kerry Head. The tide on the floor is coming in.
