Tidal Stones

This project began with a walk on the beach .

Kilmore Strand, Ballyduff, North Kerry, on the Cashen (The estuary of the River Feale)

The stones on the beach are not grey. They are have many faint colours. Blue, Green, Pink, Yellow, Brown, they are all here.

I took some home to the studio and decorated various corners: "A float"

"A wave of the sand"

and a painting. But now the colours looked dull. With the bright things around them, their colour was lost (although you can still see it of you look carefully)

Everything can be remedied with a paint brush!

My enhanced stone looked happy enough among her old friends, and soon they all wanted this "makeover"

Some were a bit O.T.T

I painted 20 sets of ten stones, and lined them up on parade

I had decided to convert some of them to waves ripples and surf, and assembled the inccoming tide.

I was not satisfied, and painted another 100 stones so that the tide came in more ferociously.

The seagull watched what I was doing with great care

The next day, I moved the whole thing to the other side of the room.

and now I have my own strand
